EXPORTERS REGISTRATION IN NIGERIA
An export license is required to carry on export business in Nigeria legitimately.
Two government agencies are responsible for issuing export licenses; the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) is in charge of issuing export licenses for agricultural commodities and non-oil exports.
BENEFITS OF OBTAINING AN EXPORT LICENSE
It paves the way to access certain trade support services such as export incentives, export capacity building programmes, and networking exporters for collaboration and exchange of ideas and trade linkages.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN EXPORT LICENSE WITH THE NEPC
REQUIREMENTS FOR LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY REGISTRATION
A company registered with the corporate affairs commission CAC can register for the NEPC exporters license by submitting the following documents.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NON- GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS REGISTRATION
REQUIREMENTS FOR CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY REGISTRATION
VALIDITY OF THE NEPC EXPORTERS CERTIFICATE REGISTRATION
The NEPC exporters certificate is valid for two years and can be renewed subsequently yearly.
TIMELINE FOR REGISTRATION
Registration is done via the e- platform of the NEPC portal. It takes about 24- 48 working hours for the registration to be approved if there are no queries on the documentation.
CONCLUSION
A business name structure registered with the CAC with export as the nature of the business can not register for the NEPC certificate. A Limited liability company, NGO, or Cooperative society that wants to register with the NEPC must have export as its objectives on the Memart, Constitution and Bye-laws respectively.
